Hashi centres on 3 women from 3 age groups - Shino(50s), Junko(30s) and Momo(20s). Momo is a bento delivery girl who sends bento lunches to Shino and Junko, who are colleagues in an office. Momo would always tell her dreams to Shino or Junko. One day Shino gets a call from an ex-boyfriend whom she has not met for 30 years.

The citizens of a small mining town in Western China are very poor. Most of them walk or ride bikes on empty streets. Not a pretty place, it shows the stains and strains of life with factories and the nasty business of extracting things from deep down in the earth. In his first feature film, Zhang Chi focuses on a family of three living in a cramped apartment. In three segments, he shares their stories. Maomao lives with his wealthy city family in Beijing. Bateer spends all his days in the Inner Mongolian with his poor parents. The parents of two children decide to exchange them, so that they both can experience a totally different life. Magnificent views, authentic sounds and traditional rituals pursue the trips of both boys.

In 1979, in a China undergoing rapid changes, it is still forbidden to listen to pop music. Platform is a record young people listen to in secret. Minliang and his friends, an official theatre company, present a play in praise of Mao Zedong. With the 1980s, the theatrical troupe’s life changes: pop music, permed hair, cigarettes… This feature film follows the artistic and emotional tribulations of the young artistes over a ten-year period against a backdrop of revolutionary disappointment, a bygone past and privatisation.
